There's this thing called dog shaming where people take pictures of their dogs doing mischievous things and write a funny caption to describe what's going on from the dog's perspective. Lulu has participated in several activities that I think are deserving of a little dog shaming. I posted some pictures from a dog shaming website so you can see what I'm talking about. Lulu's pictures are at the end. Enjoy!

Lulu is Art!
Two posts in one
week? Crazy, right? I remember when I started the blog it was hard not to post
twice a day! I’m trying to get back in the habit.
I’ve wanted to get
a custom silhouette of Lulu to add to this “gallery wall” I’ve been working on
in our house for quite some time now. I finally found the perfect one on etsy
and I can’t tell you how excited I am! I sent a side profile picture of Lulu,
and in a couple of days, my proof was ready. They shipped the finished product the next day. Super easy. Here’s how it turned out:

Finally, a new post!
I know, I know, I’ve fallen off the blogging wagon. I’m lucky if I can
crank out one post a month. I’m going to start trying harder because I really
want to have a way to remember all the cute and funny things Lulu does.
She’s been giving me this new look when I take pictures of her; I’m
going to call it the donkey face. She squints her eyes and shows her teeth.
You’d think she’d be a pro by now after all the pictures I take, but I still
have to make monkey noises and meow like a cat to get her to do the perfect head-tilt
pose. It gets embarrassing when other people are around! She’s probably doing
the donkey face on purpose so I’ll stop blinding her with the camera flash.
So what has Lulu been up to lately? Let me fill you in. She’s been doing
a lot of reading. We’ve had a magazine rack in our living room forever, but all
of the sudden she has decided that it’s fun to pull one out and shred it when
we’re gone. She’s also destroyed my Victoria’s Secret coupons, ate some
Halloween decorations and chewed the paint off our windowsill (again). Oh,
she’s also visited the pumpkin patch and dabbled in a little yoga (see pictures
below).

Herbivore
My crafty husband Erik
saw an idea he liked for an herb box and decided to build us one for the
backyard. We had just painted the backdoor red, so he painted the box to match.
We put the box on top of an old flowerbed next to our shed. Lulu likes to play
in that area, so she was quick to check out the new structure. She walked
around it and sniffed all the herbs. Erik looked at her and said “Lulu, you are
not to dig in this box.” So far, we haven’t witnessed any actual digging. I did
catch her standing in the box one afternoon, but there were no signs of foul
play.
I let her out last
night while I was working on my computer, and when she came back in she had
that look in her eye. I went out and checked and everything was still untouched.
Lulu snuggled up to me on the couch when I came back in, and I noticed that she
smelled a little funny. I got closer and instantly recognized the aroma of
fresh rosemary on her little snout. I started laughing and told Erik. He wasn’t
as amused as I was. We both agreed that it’s only a matter of time before she
digs up the whole herb garden!
I'm being good, I promise! |

Goodbye Aunt Dodo
Today was bittersweet. I began my day by celebrating the
birth of one of my dear friends Jessica, and ended it by mourning the loss of
my sweet aunt Dodo. Sometimes I forget how funny it must sound to those who
didn’t know my aunt by her nickname. Most people called Dodo (pronounced
doe-doe) Dee, which is short for Dolores. Dodo lived down the street from Mer
(my grandma), so when I was little, I always loved going to her house to play.
My cousins were all older, but Dodo kept some of their toys around and I got to
play with them when I came over. I remember she had the biggest collection of
“my little ponies” all lined up neatly in drawers. She would let me get them out
and play for as long as I wanted.
Lulu had a chance to visit Dodo at her house during our last trip to Tulsa. She didn’t get to play with the “my little ponies,” but I think
she could tell that we used to have a lot of fun there. Dodo was a special aunt
and she will be greatly missed by a lot of people. She had been sick for a long
time, so it’s at least comforting to know she is without pain in Heaven.
